    About “She Smiled Sweetly”. For a bunch of alleged satanists, the Stones had quite the diverse faith. This is a spiritual song about relying on religion when all other routes have failed you; quite atypical of the band, who always preferred to paint themselves as outlaws, but strangely moving at the same time.

    Jul 29,  · 'She Smiled Sweetly' is a very good gospel tune. I just wish Bill Wyman had tuned his bass before the recording. 'Cool, Calm, Collected' is the Stones having spirited fun with jazz, and it works in its quirky way. The only track that does not work at all for me is the oh-so-cute 'Something Happened to Me Yesterday', /5(K).
