Apr 14,  · Unfortunately, Hackett continues with his insistence on Highly Strung of singing a few numbers in the numbing upper registry used earlier. The lead-off song Camino Royale suffers because of it. His voice, though, is startlingly beautiful when he stays in the lower ranges. Thank goodness that Hackett went back to the full-band sound on this one/5(5).

One of the more underated albums ever put out by Steve. On "Highly Strung" Steve manages to perfectly blend his prog ("Group Therapy" and "Hackett To Bits")and pop ("Cell ", "Camino Royale" and "Walking Through Walls") sensiblities together in perfect harmony, the addition of a "live" ryhtym sect 3/5.

Hackett once again handles all the lead vocals, but sounds more assured in the role than he did on Cured. This album spawned Hackett's one and only solo hit single, "Cell ," which charted in Britain. (An extended version of "Cell " was released as a 12" single, and was later included on CD versions of Highly Strung.)8/
